Schuberg Philis is committed to orchestration and innovation

Companies and institutions with complex IT challenges are increasingly calling on Schuberg Philis to work with them as a partner in IT orchestration and innovation. Customers have a need for this form of partnering as a supplement to the other role of Schuberg Philis as their 100% reliable and dedicated manager of ‘mission critical’ environments. For the IT service provider, this development flows naturally from many years of investing in working solutions for orchestration, hybrid cloud, continuous integration/development, software development, and DevOps. In 2015, the company’s total contracted value rose from €84 to 102 million, while turnover remained stable at €51 million.

New working method catches on among customers

Partner for a new working method
Managing Director Pim Berger says, “For almost all of our customers, the dominant themes in 2015 were acceleration and smarter orchestration, while maintaining control and stability. They like to work with us, because we not only have in-house technical solutions, but also take the initiative to create a different way of working together. You can accelerate systems, but if your own organization and your partners in the ecosystem can’t cope, you get stagnation, not acceleration. We ensure that our customers and their application partners and the colleagues from Schuberg Philis work more and more as one team. Everyone does what he or she does best, while we continue to bear the overall final responsibility for the flawless operation of the whole process.”

Typical examples of the new approach, in the last year, were projects for two internet banks, LeasePlan Bank and MoneYou. These projects involved replacing the entire mid-layer environment, enabling the front and back offices to communicate without a hitch, and allowing new applications to be added very quickly and reliably. Another example was the development platform for KLM, which functions as a stable and flexible intermediary between their booking system and worldwide online marketing campaigns. For Jumbo supermarkets, Schuberg Philis is providing not only a stable cloud environment but also the software development platform in which the different software providers work together in mixed DevOps teams. Deployment has been even further accelerated by automating the entire testing process.

Innovating with customers
The various projects described in their Annual Report for 2015 show how Schuberg Philis implements its role as a partner in innovation. In the case of the energy supplier Eneco, an existing energy trading platform was transferred to a safe, flexible, hybrid cloud solution. The hundreds of applications are managed using Schuberg Philis’s own orchestration platform. A new step is the joint innovation project relating to data management for Eneco’s smart-energy grid. Together with Schuberg Philis, Eneco is developing a virtual platform (Data Lake) for all data scientists and analysts working on energy trading and forecasting. This platform is being further expanded and optimized on the basis of concise case studies taken from the organization. Last year Schuberg Philis won the TOMMIES Award for ‘Most innovative IT outsourcing vendor.’

100% customer satisfaction
The primary goal at Schuberg Philis is still 100% customer satisfaction. For ten years in a row, the company has had the highest customer satisfaction score in the Giarte Outsourcing Performance Survey: 9.2, compared to a market average of 7.2 (standard) and 5.9 (non-standard). In 2015, as in previous years, 100% of customers recommended Schuberg Philis to others.
