Rabobank International Direct Retail Banking (Rabobank IDRB) offers secure online banking to over 850.000 customers in six different countries across the globe.

This is possible by using new, highly advanced technologies. “With this new system an entirely new level of automation is possible, from building systems to deploying applications and testing them. This offers huge advantages: improved efficiency, higher speed, lower costs and better quality. And on top of that it even reduces the CO2 footprint.” says Den Hartog.

According to Den Hartog, Pacer is a prime example of new technological possibilities coming together with business demands from the customer. “When Rabobank told us they wanted to improve their systems with a focus on cost reduction, we knew we had the solution. After months of designing and building, closely cooperating with Rabobank IDB, Pacer is now almost ready to be deployed. The best part of it is that all the technological innovations we designed are entirely repeatable, so soon all countries can benefit from these new insights.”

Pacer offers huge benefits for business purposes such as marketing campaigns, which can now be deployed almost instantly. Plus, says Den Hartog, the advantages are not just limited to Rabobank IDB alone: “By raising the standard in this way the entire chain improves. Everyone that is connected reaps the benefits.”

DEVELOPMENT OF RABOBANK PINMAILER

Highly secure software in record time. “When a customer of the Rabobank opens a new bank account, he or she receives a socalled token, a small device that enables the customer to log into the bank’s secure website. Rabobank wanted to improve service levels to its customers by introducing a self-service facility for the issuing of these tokens.

Rabobank asked Schuberg Philis to build the new Pinmailer, an assignment that they would normally put forward to one of their software developing suppliers. We’ve created a service that runs in the landscape of the bank’s infrastructure. It connects to the bank’s administration. After receiving the token, the customer connects to Rabobanks customer site and informs the bank he has received the token. Instantly, the customer receives a text message on his mobile phone with the code that activates the token. Within minutes of receiving the token, the customer can use his bank account. Through Pinmailer, the customer can request new access codes whenever they are lost. Previously this had to be done through customer service, where new codes could only be given out after authorization of two people, the so-called four eyes principle. With Pinmailer, this can be done instantly and securely, greatly lightening the burden on customer services.

Because we are dealing with sensitive information here, we set ourselves extremely high security standards. By completing the project in record time, we’ve shown that software development can be done securely and fast at the same time. We consider this a model project of the new services we can now offer to our customers.”
