As an Oracle OCI Engineer, you are a crucial member of such a multidisciplinary team focused on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with a dedication to optimizing Oracle databases and cloud environments. As an Oracle OCI engineer, you handle migrations, infrastructure optimization, automation, and responsible for the operational run of the platform, specifically within the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure context.

In your role as an Oracle OCI Engineer, you are involved in:

  • Designing and deploying Oracle Cloud solution architectures and landing zones for both greenfield applications and migrations.
  • Leading the migration of on-premises workloads to OCI, focusing on databases and enterprise applications.
  • Developing reusable artifacts such as Infrastructure-as-Code templates, scripts, and CI/CD pipelines tailored to Oracle's ecosystem.
  • Implementing best practices for operational excellence, including monitoring, logging, and configuration management specific to Oracle databases.
  • Configuration of role-based access control across OCI, including federated identity.
  • Enforcement of security and compliance policies through compartments, policy-as-code, and integration with governance tools.
  • Implementing automated threat detection, security posture management, and application of security best practices in OCI.
  • Setting up centralized observability using OCI Monitoring, Logging, and Events.
  • Conducting operational readiness tests and security reviews to ensure robust deployments.
  • Continuously improving existing Oracle cloud solutions with technical enhancements, cost optimization, and lifecycle management.
  • Responding to incidents and performing troubleshooting with a deep understanding of Oracle services.
  • Collaborating closely with customers, taking the customer along by providing strategic guidance, and refining architectural designs.
  • Design and management of OCI Virtual Cloud Networks (VCNs), subnets, routing, private endpoints, Dynamic Routing Gateway, Fast Connect.

What makes you a strong candidate? You have:

  • Solid knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell, Terraform) to streamline cloud operations.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code practices and tools, including developing OCI-specific templates.
  • Experience deploying enterprise and custom-built applications within OCI's framework.
  • A strong focus on security and reliability, combined with a drive to automate routine tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to support traditional on-premises as well as OCI environments.

Not mandatory, but it is a big plus if you have:

  • Experience running application on Kubernetes with Oracle databases
  • Experience using Oracle tooling like Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) and Data Guard.

This role is ideal for engineers with a background in OCI or other cloud platforms and a specific interest or expertise in Oracle's technologies, enabling efficient management and optimization of OCI environments.
