At Schuberg Philis, we create, deliver and operate mission-critical IT systems where reliability, security and quality are absolute priorities. We take full ownership across the entire lifecycle — from initial planning through development to ongoing operations — ensuring systems perform consistently under all conditions. Our engineers work in environments where failure is not acceptable and maintaining high standards is essential.
We are looking for a Mission‑Critical Software Engineer (.NET) to help rebuild a complex business application into a modern, cloud‑native solution on Azure.
You will work in a small team of engineers to analyse existing functionality, design clear and robust .NET services and APIs, and prepare the system for long‑term, reliable operation. We make strong use of automation and GenAI‑assisted tooling to speed up understanding and refactoring, but engineering judgement remains central.
Your work will include
- Designing and implementing backend services and APIs in C#/.NET (Core/6+).
- Translating existing business rules and workflows into clean, testable code.
- Adding tests and observability to ensure behaviour and performance remain correct during migration.
- Collaborating with Azure/DevOps engineers on deployment, security and runtime concerns.
- Helping define patterns and standards for a modular, maintainable target architecture.
You bring
- 5+ years of hands‑on backend experience, mainly in C#/.NET.
- Solid understanding of software design (DDD, clean architecture) and automated testing.
- Experience building cloud‑ready services using SQL and modern APIs (REST/gRPC).
- Interest in working with existing systems and making them future‑proof.
- Curious about using tooling like GitHub Copilot or other AI assistants to support your work.
If you enjoy solving real, messy problems in production‑grade systems and like seeing what you build run reliably in the real world, this role is for you.
Everyone we work with and consider working with has a right to equal treatment. The hiring and appraisal process at Schuberg Philis is designed to be thorough and equitable, implementing fair payment, benefits, and opportunities across all demographics.
