Events overview

DUFAS event

Sovereignty sounds like a policy word until you trace it back to something concrete: who can access your data, what happens when a provider is suddenly cut off, whether you can still make your own decisions when the ground shifts under you.  For asset managers, that ground includes the technology and data providers behind the scenes. Most of them foreign. That works fine until it doesn't, and by then it's usually too late to ask the question.  On 6 October, together with DUFAS, we're spending an afternoon on exactly this. Dr. Davis Ellison from The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies opens with the geopolitical context, AFM and DNB bring the supervisory view, and we close with what digital sovereignty actually requires in practice. At our office in Schiphol-Rijk, drinks after.  Exclusively for DUFAS members.

AWS Community Day

On September 23, the largest AWS meetup in the Netherlands takes place in Utrecht, and we're proud to be one of the sponsors since it's first edition in 2020: AWS Community Day NL.  Our colleagues Nick de Wijer, Dennis Brouwer, and Martijn van Dongen aren't only attending, they're organizing the event. And plenty of other Schuberg Philis colleagues will be there too, ready to share what they know and learn from the community.  Curious what it's like to be a Mission Critical Engineer working for the vital industries? Come find out.  It's a free event, so register soon to secure your spot. Hope to see you there!

Webinar Engineering Sovereignty as a strategic capability to act

The world has fundamentally changed — that’s no news. Where we spent years optimizing for efficiency, we now face dependencies that have evolved into strategic risks, such as cloud concentration, legal exposure, geopolitical tensions, and suppliers increasingly setting the pace of change. The question for organizations is simple: “Can you continue to act when circumstances change?” Sovereignty is not about controlling everything; it’s about retaining the ability to make decisions when it truly matters. Date: 1-04-2026 Time: 08:30 Duration: 1 hour Location: online

Future of Payments

The Dutch payments system is internationally recognized as highly efficient, safe, reliable, and accessible. The Future of Payments congress brings together industry leaders to explore the developments and changes shaping the next phase of our payments ecosystem. We are pleased to be part of this event on 26 March, sharing insights and engaging in the dialogue on the future of payments. At 10:50 hours, our CISO Frank Breedijk will deliver a keynote in the breakout session “Sovereignty in Practice: Beyond Politics and Headlines.” Digital sovereignty is no longer a distant policy debate, it is actively shaping how payment platforms are designed, regulated, and operated. From data localization to reliance on global providers, control and autonomy have become boardroom priorities.

IT-modernisation and innovation in the era of data & AI

Digitalisation, data and AI offer significant opportunities for organisations in the (semi-) public sector. At the same time, continuity, security and reliability must never be compromised. The question is therefore not whether to modernise, but how to do so in a responsible, sustainable and future-proof way.

Waterinfodag

Water management has never been more interconnected. Sensors, platforms, partners and policies form a system-of-systems. In that landscape, mission-critical technology begins with governance: who controls the data that drives your decisions? For water authorities, control is the condition for decisive action. Clear ownership, open standards and interoperability ensure that boards retain oversight of the information that shapes safety, compliance and investment choices. Data sovereignty, by design, creates confidence because decisions can be traced, validated and executed. Curious about how we at Schuberg Philis contribute to this? Visit us at our stand number 9.
