For one of our customers, we have been asked to either build a private cloud platform or bring their current cloud up to Schuberg Philis specs. So that we are able to deliver consumable services to their businesses in a high performing market. The team that is responsible for this project, that will also be responsible in the run, will also support the deployment of workloads on top of the platform and the migration and transformation of business applications in a highly automated fashion.
We are looking for a VMware Engineer with extensive experience in managing and optimizing VMware environments, with a strong focus on automation, networking and storage. This role involves both maintaining existing infrastructure and implementing improvements according to the Schuberg Philis standards. In this role, you are the glue between the OT and the DevOps world to accelerate business development while at the same time improving compliance and the overall security.
What will you be doing?
In this role, you will be working on maintaining and continuously improving the platform with new features and enhancements, identifying areas for improvement and optimization. You will collaborate closely with the customer and our customer team to create and execute a plan for improving the current VMware setup, including disaster recovery and cloud foundation elements. Besides the platform you will be helping out the teams at the customer with workload migrations and transformations once the platform is ready for use.
Who are we looking for?
We expect you to know your way around VMware, including having experience with the underlying hardware, networking and managing large multi-tenant environments. You have an everything-as-code mindset and preferably experience with tools like Terraform and Ansible.
We are looking for an engineer with the following profile:
- Extensive experience with VMware environments, including both private and public cloud setups, including vSphere, NSX and vSan
- Strong knowledge of resilient private cloud infrastructures and preferably VMware Cloud Director
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Familiarity with automation tools and practices
- Familiarity with physical networking and storage solutions
- Being able to take the customer along in the journey of professionalizing their cloud and take them to the next step.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems is preferred, as is understanding of application management and integration with virtualized environments.
