Full-time Rotterdam 32-40 hours

At Schuberg Philis, we engineer and operate critical IT systems that businesses rely on 24/7. Our long-term, dedicated customer teams are empowered to take full responsibility for delivering secure and reliable solutions, often in highly complex environments. Security is at the core of everything we do, and our customers trust us to keep their systems and data safe. We’re looking for passionate engineers to help us achieve this mission.

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Security Lead to join our biggest customer team. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership and coordination responsibilities, ensuring the security of our AWS environments and supporting our teams in implementing best practices. You will play a pivotal role in managing risks, improving container and cloud security, and, ultimately, driving security improvements across our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead security efforts within the customer team and across sub-teams, ensuring best practices are implemented and adhered to.
  • Collaborate with team ‘security buddies’ and other customer teams to implement and maintain robust security measures.
  • Oversee container security and vulnerability management processes.
  • Utilize AWS security tools such as GuardDuty, AWS Security Hub, AWS Config and Cloudtrail to monitor, assess, and enhance security.
  • Evaluate and implement security tooling.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks, ensuring environments comply with agreed security baselines and policies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, guiding customer team(s) through security transformations and fostering a culture of security awareness.
  • Provide leadership during security incidents, serving as the first point of contact for CERT coordination.
  • Collaborate on audit and compliance processes as needed.

What are we looking for?

  • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS platform engineering and security.
  • Proficiency with AWS security tools, including GuardDuty, Security Hub, and CloudWatch.
  • Strong expertise in vulnerability management, container security, and related tools such as SonarQube, TRIVY, and Splunk.
  • Ability to conceptualize and explain architectural designs clearly.
  • Proven ability to coordinate, plan, and lead security efforts across multiple teams.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

It would be nice if you also bring some experience in the area of:

  • EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) tools.
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and risk management processes.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Security – Specialty or similar.

What can you expect?

At Schuberg Philis, you’ll join a community of engineers with an awesome combination of exceptionally high security standards, an infatuation with automation, and the power to make a positive, sustainable impact on customers’ business. Due to the nature of our customer engagements, there is no pressure on (billable) hours, but we focus on quality and impact – or how we like to call it “freedom & responsibility”. You know best how to deliver the most value.

You’ll also be embedded in a company committed to helping colleagues grow as people and professionals through training, opportunities for knowledge-sharing, and good old-fashioned fun.

Our offices are high quality workspaces, and we go way beyond what is expected. We have productive equipment, good food and drinks, team outings, family days, labs to experiment with innovative technologies, etc. We’re very active in the AWS community, attending and organizing meetups and conferences, and organizing internal knowledge sharing events.

Our indefinite contracts are designed to take care of you both on the job and off. For more information about our perks, check out our What we offer page.
