Cloud Engineer AWS

Enable teams and customers with secure, reliable cloud foundations

Full-time 32-40 Stunden

At Schuberg Philis, we believe in purposeful responsibility. Every customer has a dedicated team of engineers who take end-to-end responsibility for their mission-critical platforms and applications. For one of our dedicated customer teams, we are looking for a Cloud Engineer AWS to design, build, and maintain the backbone of our services: the AWS landing zone.

Your Role

As a Cloud Engineer AWS, you are responsible for the cloud infrastructure that powers the tools and services for our clients. You will manage the entire lifecycle of one or more landing zones—both our in-house platforms and client-specific environments—ensuring they are secure, scalable, and highly available. Your focus will be on modern cloud-native technologies, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation to drive efficiency and reliability.

You will be a key enabler for your team members, providing them with a stable and advanced platform so they can focus on delivering value to the client. This is a hands-on role where you will not only maintain the current environment but also actively shape its future by implementing new services and adopting the latest AWS innovations.

How you add value

  • Design, build, and manage AWS landing zones using modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, with a strong focus on AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
  • Manage and operate containerized applications and services using AWS Fargate and other AWS container services (e.g., EKS), ensuring robust and scalable deployments.
  • Automate operational tasks, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure management using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Ensure the stability and performance of the platform through proactive monitoring, logging, and incident management.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of the Linux-based environments, from provisioning and configuration to maintenance and decommissioning.
  • Act as a technical advisor within the team, guiding colleagues on cloud best practices, security, and architectural decisions.
  • Collaborate in a Git-driven workflow, using tools like GitLab and GitHub.

How you make the difference

You are passionate about automation and automation and building resilient, mission-critical systems. You are not simply following best practices—you set them. Taking ownership, you make the platform invisible, so your team can be visible in their impact

What you bring

  • Proven track record as a System Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or DevOps Engineer in a complex, mission-critical AWS environment.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly with AWS CDK and/or CloudFormation.
  • Proven experience with AWS container services, with a strong focus on AWS Fargate.
  • Deep knowledge of Linux system administration.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles, configuration management, and monitoring concepts.
  • Familiarity with tools like Datadog, Splunk, Okta, GitLab or GitHub is a plus.
  • Legacy tool experience such as Chef or Octopus is appreciated, but not a must.

Ready to take 100% responsibility, together? We look forward to hearing from you.
