Integration Platform Engineer - OSS

Help us build integration platform for the multi-tenant, multi-reagion environment

Full-time 32-40 Stunden

At Schuberg Philis, we specialize in mission-critical IT, taking full ownership of the systems our customers depend on every day. Our engineers combine deep technical expertise with an automation-first mindset, working across the full stack to design, build, and operate highly reliable platforms.

We are looking for a Senior Integration Platform Engineer to help design and build a cloud-native integration platform that will become the central nervous system of a complex, mission-critical landscape. This platform will enable and standardize communication across applications, replacing fragmented point-to-point integrations with scalable, event-driven and API-based patterns.

As a Mission-Critical Integration Platform Engineer, you will design, build, run, and evolve a modern integration platform that enables reliable, secure, and scalable data flow across all business-critical applications. You will work in a self-steering team responsible for designing, building, and operating integration capabilities across messaging, event streaming, and data orchestration, tightly integrated with a multi-tenant, multi-region Azure landing zone and private cloud environment.

What you will do?

  • Designing and building event-driven and message-based integration platforms using technologies such as Kafka/Pulsar and enterprise messaging systems

  • Developing and operating a cloud-agnostic integration stack, alongside an existing TIBCO BWCE & EMS platform, and leading the migration of ~100 existing integrations

  • Establishing standards and patterns for messaging, streaming, API design, and data orchestration

  • Designing and operating batch and workflow orchestration pipelines (e.g., Airflow) for reliable data movement and processing

  • Building and governing API layers and gateway capabilities, including authentication, rate limiting, and lifecycle management

  • Ensuring resilience, durability, ordering, and delivery guarantees across integration flows

  • Automating everything through Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management

  • Collaborating with platform engineering teams working on Kubernetes, Azure landing zones, and private cloud infrastructure

  • Supporting the migration of 60 applications from on-premises to cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration into the new platform

  • Defining and implementing observability, monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks for integration components

  • Troubleshooting complex, multi-layer issues across messaging systems, APIs, orchestration pipelines, and underlying infrastructure

What you bring?

  • Strong experience with event streaming and messaging platforms (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar, ActiveMQ Artemis, or similar)

  • Deep understanding of messaging patterns such as pub/sub, request/reply, event-driven architecture, and dead-letter handling

  • Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and building reliable batch/data pipelines

  • Experience with API design and management, including REST, OpenAPI, and API gateway solutions

  • Solid understanding of security practices, including OAuth2, JWT, mTLS, and secure platform design

  • Experience with schema management (Avro, Protobuf, JSON Schema) and data contracts

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes-based platforms, including deployments, Helm, and working with platform teams

  • Strong automation mindset with experience in CI/CD, scripting, and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform)

  • Experience working in cloud environments (Azure preferred) and hybrid/private cloud setups

  • Ability to design for high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance in mission-critical systems

If you’re an experienced integration engineer who enjoys designing distributed systems, building platforms from the ground up, and enabling real business impact through reliable data flow, we’d love to hear from you.
