As a Security AWS Engineer, you'll be the security champion within your team—not through hierarchy, but through expertise, ownership, and a drive to continuously improve. You'll lead by example, acting as a trusted advisor who simplifies complex security concepts while maintaining the highest standards for mission-critical environments.
This role calls for initiative, deep knowledge, and collaboration. You'll be responsible for formulating and maintaining a security vision for your Customer Team, ensuring that security remains a priority even when customers emphasize functional deliverables. What will you do:
Responsibilities may vary depending on project and team focus, but may include:
- Security Leadership & Strategy: Formulate and maintain a security vision for your Customer Team, contributing to Schuberg Philis' overall security strategy.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and address security and risk concerns, ensuring customers make informed decisions when accepting risks.
- Security Implementation: Verify that all implementations are consistent with agreed security policies, services, and requirements.
- Compliance & Auditing: Lead yearly audits, manage compliance requirements, and maintain security baselines according to agreed policies.
- Vulnerability Management: Analyze and follow up on findings from security tooling, manage vulnerability tickets, and coordinate patching schedules.
- Security Tooling: Manage and optimize security tools including AWS Security Hub.
- Incident Response: Act as team representative during security incidents and serve as a point of contact.
- Customer Advisory: Serve as trusted advisor to customer security, risk, and compliance teams.
- Team Development: Mentor colleagues in security practices, foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- External Engagement: Represent Schuberg Philis in security forums, seminars, and events.
Requirements:
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS security services
- Experience with security tooling, vulnerability management, and automation
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, security automation, and scripting
- AWS Security Specialty or other advanced AWS certifications
- CISSP, OSCP, CCSK, or other relevant security certifications
- Background with frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar
- Proven ability to lead through influence and expertise, with strong communication and mentoring abilities
- Strong background in proactive risk identification, assessment, and mitigation
- Excellent ability to simplify complex security concepts for diverse audiences
- Understanding of how to balance security requirements with business needs
- Commitment to staying current with security trends, threats, and best practices
- High standards for security implementation and ability to challenge decisions when necessary
- Proficient in English; Dutch is a plus.
